Race Bank and Dudgeon wind farms
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said the new Windfarms will provide enough power for 730,000 homes and will cost £3bn to develop.
A further third development that was proposed - the Docking Shoal windfarm has been scrapped becuase of wildlife concerns. Charles Hendry, the Minister for Energy is quoted as saying "the wind farms will create significant investment and jobs". The Race Bank development will be done by Centrica, with Warwick Energy building the Dudgeon Wind farms. Together the new wind farms will provide more that 1GW of enery.

Scroby Sands Wind Farm, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
The latest 30 Turbine, off-shore wind farm to be switched on in the UK is currently attracting 2000 visitors a week. The recently opened Information Centre on the Esplanade, north of Great Yarmouth's Brittania Pier, features interactive displays on wind energy and a scale model of one of Scroby's turbines.


Ecotech Centre, Swaffham, Norfolk.
Currently the tallest wind turbine in Britain can be found at the Ecotech Centre in Swaffham. Designed by Norman Foster, the turbine features a 65 metre high viewing platform so, for first time, visitors can see how a wind turbine works from the inside. There are daily turbine tours, so the 300-step climb to the top is defintely worth the effort!


Blood Hill Wind Farm, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Located in West Somerton, Great Yarmouth, these two onshore wind turbines provide 1.5 Mega Watts of power and were built in 2000 by Ecotricity.
The turbines are situated 800 metres apart, either side of Collis Lane, just off the B1159 Hembsby to Horsey Road.
